Google is continuing to integrate artificial intelligence into its products, and this time, the technology is set to enhance the Google Meet app for Android.
What We Know
Last year, Google introduced AI-generated backgrounds for the web version of Meet, and now this feature is making its way to Android devices. The latest version of Gmail for Android (v2024.10.06.682972205) has revealed a "Create Background" button in the effects menu. Currently, clicking this button leads to a blank page, but it’s anticipated that users will soon be able to input text queries, choose styles, and generate unique backgrounds, similar to what’s available on the web version.
In the web version of Google Meet, users can create multiple sample backgrounds based on their queries and edit them. Similar functionalities are expected to be incorporated into the Android app as well.
This new feature is still in early development, and the timeline for its official rollout remains unclear.
