A jury in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas has determined that Apple’s Secure Enclave technology does not infringe on user verification patents held by Identity Security LLC.
What We Know
Identity Security filed a lawsuit in 2021, alleging that Apple violated four of its patents. However, the court ruled in favor of Apple.
Secure Enclave was introduced by Apple in 2013 with the iPhone 5s and is designed to protect sensitive user data, including Face ID and Touch ID. This technology is still utilized across a range of devices, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Watch, and HomePod.
It remains unclear whether Identity Security intends to appeal the court’s decision.
