Proton has unveiled its own version of Google Docs within its Drive cloud storage service.

What We Know

Proton Docs, like other Proton products, features end-to-end encryption, making it an excellent choice for industries such as healthcare, media, finance, and legal services. The platform supports creating, opening, and editing documents in various formats, including Microsoft .docx, and offers collaboration tools similar to those in Google Docs.

Users can invite others to view and edit documents, even if they don’t have a Proton account, and communicate through comments. Real-time collaboration features allow users to see other participants’ presence and cursor locations for more seamless teamwork.

While Proton hasn't confirmed plans for versions of other Google Workspace apps, the company continues to expand its range of tools, which includes a VPN, encrypted calendar, and password manager.

Proton Docs will be rolled out to users in the coming days.
