Google is preparing a significant update for multitasking in Android 16, enabling users to place any app in a floating window.

What We Know

The feature, dubbed "bubble anything," was unveiled in the latest Android 15 QPR1 beta. This will allow users to open any app in a floating window that remains on top of other applications, facilitating easier switching between them.

Previously, the "bubbles API," introduced in Android 11, was limited to messaging apps displaying messages in floating windows, leaving many apps without support for this feature. Now, Google is testing the capability to use floating windows for any app, which is expected to enhance multitasking on Android devices, particularly tablets.
The "bubble anything" feature introduces a "bubble" button to the context menu that appears when you long-press an app icon on the home screen. Tapping this button will launch the app in a floating window.

However, this feature has not been officially confirmed and may be canceled or introduced unexpectedly in future updates. Regardless, the potential arrival of "bubble anything" in Android 16 is generating significant interest.
