Owners of the new iPhone 16 lineup are already facing some initial issues.

What’s Happening This Time:

There appears to be a bug affecting these smartphones that leads to random reboots and freezes. Users have reported that the display becomes unresponsive or very slow to react to touch, followed by a quick restart of the iPhone.

Complaints about this issue began appearing on forums back in September and continue to surface. The problem predominantly affects the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models. Unfortunately, the iOS 18.0.1 and iOS 18.1 updates have not resolved the issue, as reboots persist even after users install the latest software.

While most users have only encountered the bug a few times, some have experienced between 10 to 20 crashes in a single day.

Apple has replaced some of the affected smartphones, but the issue has reappeared on those devices as well. In certain cases, performing a fresh installation without restoring from an iCloud backup seems to alleviate the problem, suggesting that it may be related to iCloud.
