Midjourney has announced the launch of an updated web tool that enables users to edit any uploaded images using generative artificial intelligence. This new tool, set to be available as soon as next week, will allow users to alter the texture of objects in images, adjusting their colors and details to align with the provided captions.
What We Know So Far:
According to Midjourney CEO David Holtz, a limited number of users will have initial access to the tool, and moderation efforts will be strengthened through the use of both human and advanced AI moderators. This measure aims to prevent misuse, such as deepfakes and copyright violations.
Last year, Midjourney adopted the IPTC Digital Source Type standard to indicate when images are generated by AI. However, the company has yet to implement C2PA technology, which tracks the full provenance of an image. With the rise of deepfakes, Midjourney is taking proactive steps to curb their spread, including implementing filters for political figures.
