Apple is set to launch an updated iPhone SE next year, marking the company's first device to feature its own 5G modem.

What We Know

This will be the first update to the SE model since 2022. Apple acquired the majority of Intel's smartphone modem business for $1 billion in 2019 to enhance its independence, although it has continued to rely on Qualcomm modems until now.

The iPhone SE 4 will resemble the iPhone 14 and will be equipped with an A18 chip and 8GB of RAM to support Apple’s AI features. It will also include Face ID and eliminate the home button found in previous SE models. The camera setup will be similar to the iPhone 15, featuring a 48 MP wide-angle lens and a 12 MP front-facing camera.

Apple plans to test its modem in a single device before a wider rollout. The iPhone SE 4 is expected to be unveiled next spring.
